Spirits To The Light

Why no love and miracles,
everyone dies a miserable death.
Everything smells of fire and tinder,
corpses in the dirt.
Dead line the sandy streets
as though it was normal.
These images aren't just horrible,
but disgusting and brutal too.

That could be you too,
just as well as me.
In the face of fear,
everyone thinks of themselves.

Refrain:
Bring peace back to the country,
reach out all your bleeding hands,
send your idea of the enemy into the void,
bring your spirits to the light.1

And so your homeland burns
without prohibition.
And so the old send
death to the children.

[Refrain] (2x)

That could be you too,
just as well as me.
In the face of fear,
everyone thinks of themselves.

[Refrain] (2x)

Bring your spirits to the light.

  • 1. This is clearer in German because of the plural form of 'you,' which English doesn't have. It should be interpreted as '[All of you] bring your spirits into the light.' 'Spirits' is plural because it refers to more than one person, not one person with multiple spirits.
